Buy Nothing is a gifting platform that supports neighbours to share freely with one another. Join your local Buy Nothing Facebook Group below, and connect with your community to gift (or request) items that you no longer want or need. There are also some similar groups listed here. It’s a great way to share and connect with neighbours, keeping items in the circular economy for longer.

 

Charities and op shops

Quality used items including furniture, toys, clothing, sports equipment, bric-a-brac and books can all be donated. Some charities even offer a free collection service for bulky items. Try these local free services:

Recycling options

Some items that are too damaged to be reused by others can be recycled into new products.

Drop your items at the West Metro Recycling Centre or directly to CLAW in Welshpool. Only certain plastics can be accepted – check your items here or call the Recycling Hotline on 9384 6711 to confirm.
UPPAREL Textile items that are damaged beyond repair.

  • Clothing (no underwear)
  • Fabric couch covers and curtains
  • Household linen
  • Shoes
Order a box, fill it up with your damaged textiles, and mail it to Upparel. Prices start at $35 for a 10kg box of textiles.
